SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College men's soccer team saw its season come to a close on Saturday, as top-seed Trinity University scored three goals in a three minutes span midway through the first half and the 'Roos were unable to recover in a 5-1 loss in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference semifinals. The 'Roos finish the year with a record of 10-9-2.

Things started off slowly for both teams, as the two sides kept the ball in the middle of the field through the game's first 25 minutes. However, Trinity broke through in the 26th minute of action when Chris Madden finished on a pass from Christian Sakshaug, and then just 24 seconds later, Sakshaug played a cross to Brent Mandelkorn, who headed it home to make it 2-0 at the 26 minute mark.

Trinity would add another first half goal in the 29th minute, with Kellen Reid collecting a corner kick from Sakshaug and punching it in to make it 3-0 heading into halftime. The Tigers added to their lead less than three minutes into the second half, when Kamran Moussavi headed in a free kick from Daniel Ruano to make it 4-0, and the score grew to 5-0 on a Ryan Hunter tally in the 60th minute.

Austin College got on the board with time expired, as Thomas Quick put home a penalty kick to make it a 5-1 final. Joseph Khalaf made five saves for Austin College, as Trinity held a 27-7 advantage in shots, including a 12-2 edge in shots on goal.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
