No. 20 Colorado College Edges 'Roo Men

SHERMAN, Texas – No. 20-ranked Colorado College found the net in the 55th minute of action and that would be the decisive score, as the Austin College men's soccer team fell 1-0 to the visiting Tigers on Sunday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 9-7-2 overall and 6-6-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The game was a defensive struggle from the start, with most of the action taking place in the middle of the field as neither team was able to get a shot until more than 18 minutes had elapsed. Colorado College held a slight edge in shots by the end of the half, out-shooting the 'Roos 5-3 in a scoreless first half.

Both offenses came alive in the early minutes of the second half, with both sides getting their best chances of the day in the first 10 minutes after halftime. Austin College nearly struck first, as Phillip Le collected a through ball and went one on one with Colorado College keeper Theo Hooker, but Le's chip shot over Hooker hit the crossbar to keep things scoreless.

The Tigers finally broke through at the 54:39 mark, when Keenan Amer played a ball to Daniel Krueger on the left side of the box, and Krueger ripped a shot from 15 yards out into the back of the net. That would prove to be the difference maker in the match.

Colorado College finished with a 12-8 shot advantage, as Joseph Khalaf made five saves for Austin College and Hooker made three for the Tigers.
