Men's Soccer Tops Centenary 2-1

SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College men's soccer team opened up Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 2-1 win over visiting Centenary College on Friday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference with the victory.

Austin College got out to a fast start, with Phillip Le finding Thomas Quick for a tally in just the seventh minute of action. The 'Roos would build a 2-0 lead just five minutes later, with Le finding the net this time on an assist from Jack Wheaton

Centenary tried to battle back in the second half, with Colin Maloney finding the back of the net in the 55th minute to cut it to a 2-1 Austin College lead. However, the 'Roos would hold on to get the victory behind a solid performance from Joseph Khalaf in goal. Khalaf finished with four saves, while Centenary's Rylan Whan had eight stops.

The 'Roos are back in action on Sunday when they host non-conference foe McMurry University.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
