Colorado College Uses Big Second Half to Top 'Roos

SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College men's soccer team trailed 1-0 midway through the second half but a three goal burst by Colorado College gave the Tigers a 4-0 win over the 'Roos on Friday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 4-13-1 overall and 2-10 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with the loss.

Colorado College tallied early as Robert Malone scored the first of his three goals on the afternoon in the 11th minute of action, and that would remain the score heading into halftime. Michael Moran made nine first half saves for the 'Roos as Colorado College held a 15-5 edge in shots in the opening frame.

The Tigers went up 2-0 in the 59th minute, and Malone added goals in the 61st and 70th minutes to make it a 4-0 final. Colorado College dominated possession in the second half, out-shooting Austin College 15-3 after halftime en route to handing the 'Roos the loss. Joseph Khalaf made six saves in goal after subbing in at halftime.

Austin College will be looking to rebound on Sunday as the 'Roos are currently scheduled to host the University of Dallas, weather permitting.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
