TLU Tops 'Roo Men's Soccer

SHERMAN, Texas – Texas Lutheran got a pair of first half goals and Austin College was unable to counter despite several strong chances in the second half as the 'Roo men's soccer team fell 2-0 to the Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon. Austin College drops to 3-5-1 overall and 1-2 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Alejandro Martinez put Texas Lutheran on the board in the 12th minute of action when he punched home a shot following a scrum in front of the net, and the Bulldogs got another tally from Isaac Lopez in the 34th minute to head into halftime with a 2-0 lead. That would be the only scoring of the game, as neither team was able to find the net in the second half.

Austin College came close on several opportunities, but a shot from Juan Ramirez was stopped at point blank range by TLU keeper Jonathan Michael in the best chance for the 'Roos. Austin College actually had an 11-9 shot edge in the game, including a 6-3 second half advantage.

The 'Roos are on the road for their next six games, beginning with a trip to Schreiner this Friday.
