Late Goal for UD Drops 'Roo Men's Soccer in Home Finale

The University of Dallas tallied in the 87th minute and Austin College was unable to counter in the final moments, as the Crusaders handed the 'Roos a 2-1 loss in the men's soccer team's final home game of the season. Austin College is now 1-11-4 overall and 1-8-2 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

After going scoreless for most of the first half, the Crusaders got on the board in the 37th minute of action when Ben Mannings sent a cross into the box and Nate Nwaeze hit a one-timer into the back of the net to make it 1-0 at halftime. Austin College got a chance to pull even early in the second half when the 'Roos earned a penalty kick, but Dallas keeper Timo Gamueda managed to make the save to keep it a 1-0 game.

That remained the score until the 74th minute of action, when Seth Windsor took the ball along the end line and played the ball back, and Gideon Ibemere was able to find the back of the net to make it a 1-1 game. However, just as the game looked destined for overtime, Nwaeze sent the ball into the middle and Barton Holdridge headed it home to give UD the lead and the win.

Dallas owned a 24-13 edge in shots during the course of the game, and Andrew Celio made nine saves in the loss for Austin College.
