'Roo Men's Soccer Falls in Overtime

The Austin College men's soccer team put forward a strong defensive effort but Texas Lutheran tallied a golden goal in the 94th minute of action to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 victory over the 'Roos on Friday afternoon. Austin College is now 0-7-3 overall and 0-4-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Neither team was able to get much going offensively in the first half, with the 'Roos mustering just three shots while TLU managed six, but the Bulldogs started peppering the Austin College goal in the second half with 12 shots against just one for the 'Roos. However, Andrew Celio made five of his seven saves in the second half to keep the game scoreless and send things to overtime squared at 0-0.

The Bulldogs looked to have an early victory in overtime with an apparent goal less than two minutes in, but an offside call negated the tally. However, three minutes later Isaac Lopez sent a free kick into the box and Nathan Drouillard headed it into the lower left corner to give TLU the victory at the 93:37 mark.

Austin College will be looking to bounce back on Sunday when they host Schreiner University at noon.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
