Men's Soccer Holds Off UD for 1-0 Win

The Austin College men's soccer team grabbed an early lead against the University of Dallas and used a strong defensive effort to earn a 1-0 victory on Sunday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 4-10-3 overall and 4-7-2 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with the victory.

The lone goal of the game came in the 14th minute when Daniel Graham sent a ball to Andrew Parides, who beat a defender and ripped a shot into the upper right corner to put Austin College up 1-0. The 'Roos used an 18-12 advantage in shots in the first half to keep the pressure on leading into halftime.

In the second half the 'Roos once again controlled possession, holding a 12-4 advantage in shots and nearly tallying again, but neither team was able to find the net. The 'Roos got six saves from Andrew Celio to earn the shutout victory, while PJ Hasson made five saves for Dallas.

Austin College is home on Friday when they host Centenary in the last SCAC regular season match of the season with game time set for 3:00 p.m.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
