'Roo Men's Soccer Falls to No. 14 Trinity

The Austin College men's soccer team played No. 14-ranked Trinity University tough but the Tigers used two second half goals to open things up and hand the 'Roos a 3-0 loss on Sunday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 3-9-3 overall and 3-6-2 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play. 

Austin College used a strong defensive effort to keep the Tigers off the board early, as the game was scoreless until Trinity's Todd Edwards scored in the 32nd minute of action to make it 1-0 heading into halftime. Trinity had 12 corner kicks in the opening half but the 'Roos were able to turn them away on each attempt. 

In the second half, the Tigers went up 2-0 on a goal from Jonny Lawson in the 56th minute, but Celio came up with a big stop on a penalty kick to keep it a two goal margin. However, Trinity would get a third goal in the 69th minute and Austin College was unable to respond, making it a 3-0 final. 

Trinity held a 23-5 shot advantage as Celio finished the game making eight saves for Austin College. 

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
