Men's Soccer Battles Schreiner to Scoreless Draw

The Austin College men's soccer team battled visiting Schreiner University to a 0-0 double overtime draw on Friday afternoon, bring the team's overall record to 2-6-1 and Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference mark to 2-3-1 on the year. 

After an evenly matched first half in which the teams each fired seven shots, the 'Roos dominated play through the second half, holding an 11-1 shot advantage, but Austin College was unable to capitalize on any of their five second half shots on goal. After 90 scoreless minutes of action, the teams went to overtime but neither side was able to find the net to make it a 0-0 draw after the second overtime period. 

Austin College keeper Andrew Celio made six saves while Schreiner's Blake Lawson also made six saves as both keepers earned the clean sheet. 

The 'Roos will be back on the field on Sunday afternoon when they host SCAC foe Texas Lutheran University at 2:00 p.m. 

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
