'Roo Men's Soccer Topped by No. 1 Trinity

The Austin College men's soccer team went into halftime trailing No. 1-ranked Trinity University just 1-0, but the Tigers scored four times in the second half to propel them past the 'Roos 5-1 on Sunday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 6-3-2 overall and 2-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play. 

The 'Roos managed to shut down the Tigers for nearly the entire first half until Yuri Ribeiro tallied with just over a minute remaining before halftime to make it 1-0 at the break. In the second half Tom Carwile scored just after the 52 minute mark, and 10 minutes later Darren McAfee tallied to push it to a 3-0 game. The Trinity lead grew to 4-0 when Jeff Hayes scored at the 69:11 mark. 

Austin College got on the board just under four minutes later when Andy Johnson blasted a shot from 20 yards out just inside the right post to make it 4-1, but that's as close as the 'Roos would get as Claudio Calistri added a final Trinity goal in the 87^th minute of action. 

Andrew Celio made 10 saves, including saving a penalty kick, for Austin College as the 'Roos were out-shot 32-6 in the game. The 'Roos head on the road next weekend when they travel to Colorado Springs to take on Colorado College on Friday. 

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
