The Austin College men's soccer team scored all three of its goals in the second half as the 'Roos opened Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 3-1 victory over visiting Centenary College on Friday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 4-1-2 overall and 1-0 in SCAC play, and have not lost since their season opener.
After a scoreless first half, the 'Roos got things going early coming out of the break when Caleb Walters found Harroon Ismail for a tally at the 46:24 mark to make it a 1-0 game. Centenary would respond in the 58th minute when Spencer Nickerson scored on a feed from Cullen Gallet, but Austin College would score twice more in a four minute span to earn the victory.
The first of the two scores came in the 71st minute when Caleb Sherer scored on a direct kick to put the 'Roos ahead 2-1, and less than four minutes later the 'Roos drew a penalty kick and Memo Allande blasted it into the back of the net to make it a 3-1 final.
Austin College held a 20-12 shot advantage in the game and Andrew Celio made five saves in the net for the 'Roos, while Robbie Ramirez made six stops for Centenary.
Austin College heads to Austin on Sunday to take on Concordia University-Texas at 4:00 p.m.
