Allande's Hat Trick Propels 'Roos Past ETBU

Memo Allande scored three times and the Austin men's soccer team exploded for four goals in an 11 minute span in the first half as the 'Roos topped East Texas Baptist University 5-3 on Sunday afternoon for their second straight win. Austin College is now 2-1-1 overall this season.

East Texas Baptist struck first in the game, tallying at the 27:31 mark on a goal by Zachary Barton, but just over a minute later the 'Roos knotted things up when Andy Johnson headed home a free kick from Caleb Sherer. It was only 29 seconds later that Allande scored his first goal of the game off an assist from Derek Crocker, and Allande would score again at the 33:30 mark to make it a 3-1 game.

The Austin College lead would grow to 4-1 just six minutes later as Taylor Greenwalt scored on a feed from Roberto Varela, but the Tigers would get one back before the break on a tally by Michael Solares in the 43rd minute to make it 4-2 heading into halftime.

The offensive outburst slowed down in the second half, with neither team scoring until Allande punched home a penalty kick in the 77th minute to make it 5-2. Peter Fitzsimmons would tally in the 87th minute for ETBU but that's as close as the Tigers would get.

Andrew Celio made three saves for Austin College while Austin Walker made four saves and Cody Hopson made one for ETBU.

The 'Roos head out on the road next week as they travel to Greenville, Illinois to take on Greenville College on September 14 and Fulton, Missouri to face Westminster College on September 15.
