Austin College Holds Off Lyon

The 'Roos picked up their second win in as many weeks over Lyon, heading into halftime leading 33-32 and, after the Scots 46-43, Austin College responded with a 14-4 run to surge ahead 57-50 with 9:11 left in the game and maintain a lead the rest of the way. The Austin College lead grew to nine twice down the stretch, and Lyon was unable to get the deficit under four points in the game's final minutes. Lyon got to within five at 69-64 on an Israel Palmer basket with 24 seconds left, but Jamien June knocked down a pair of free throws with six second to play to ice the victory.
June led all scorers with 20 points, hitting 7-of-11 attempts from the field including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc, as Austin College hit 10-of-24 attempts from long range and shot 47.5% from the field overall. Kidus Getenet came off the bench to provide 13 points and seven rebounds, and Price Bradley had 10 points, four assists, and two steals in the win. Ethan Pearce and Jordan Hudgins each dished out five assists, and Jackson Rennie chipped in nine points while hitting 2-of-6 from long range.
Austin College outscored Lyon 22-to-10 in bench points, and forced the Scots into 19 turnovers, which they converted into 21 points. The Scots hit just 31.6% from three point range, and Austin College also owned a 9-to-2 advantage in fast break points. Kylon McCullough led Lyon with 18 points and Palmer finished with 16, while Malik Madison pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds. Austin College will be back in action on Sunday, as the 'Roos play host to Hendrix College at 2:00 p.m.
