Colorado College Tops 'Roo Men

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's basketball team fell 72-59 in the team's final home game of the year on Sunday, as Colorado College pulled away down the stretch to top the 'Roos. Austin College is now 5-18 overall and 2-12 in SCAC play.

Jaylyn Cleamons scored 16 points to pace Austin College, and Tristan Dick recorded a double-double with 11 points and 14 boards. However, the 'Roos turned it over 23 times and were out-scored 23-11 from the free throw line in the game. Austin College dominated on the glass, especially on the offensive end of the court, holding a 49-38 advantage overall with 17 of those rebounds coming on offense, but the 'Roos shot just 34.4% from the field and were whistled for 28 fouls.

Colorado College took a 28-23 lead into halftime, but Austin College came out strong to open the second half and grabbed a 32-31 lead. The teams traded baskets, and after the Tigers went on top 42-38, Cleamons scored five in a row to put the 'Roos ahead 43-42 with 11:28 to play. Colorado College responded with a 15-5 run to take a 57-48 lead with 7:17 to play, and the Tigers would maintain control from there.

Colorado College made just one three pointer in the game, but got 35 points from Scott Cunningham, who hit 12-of-21 shots and 11-of-12 from the stripe. Cleamons went 5-of-12 to get his team-high 16 for the 'Roos, adding five rebounds and a pair of steals. Dick dished out a pair of assists and added two blocks, and Chase Antosca came off the bench to chip in 10 points. Chanston Goodman had five assists for Austin College.
