Colorado College Tops 'Roo Men

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Austin College men's basketball team dropped an 87-75 road contest at Colorado College on Sunday, as the Tigers used a 16-1 run late in the first half to surge ahead and the 'Roos were unable to bounce back. The 'Roos are now 3-9 overall and 1-3 in SCAC play.

Austin College held a 21-17 lead with 9:54 left in the first half, but the Tigers scored 13 unanswered as part of their 16-1 run to take a 33-22 lead with 5:14 on the clock. The 'Roos would chip away at the lead before the break, trailing 43-36 heading into the locker room. Austin College scored the first bucket of the second half as Chanston Goodman cut it to 43-38, but four quick points for the Tigers made it 47-38 and the margin would grow to 56-40 with 15:24 left on the clock. 

A three from Jackson Rennie cut it to a 70-62 game with 5:11 left to play, but a 6-2 spurt by the Tigers pushed it to a 76-64 game and the 'Roos were unable to get it back to a single digit deficit the rest of the way. Austin College shot 51.8% from the field, but Colorado College outscored the 'Roos 27-13 from the free throw line with the Tigers connecting on 87.1% from the line and the 'Roos making just 65% of their foul shots. The 'Roos also turned it over 20 times, their third highest total of the season.

Jaylyn Cleamons came off the bench to score 21 points on 9-of-11 shooting, adding six rebounds and three assists to lead the 'Roos. Tristan Dick added 19 points, six boards, and five assists, while Rennie and Chase Antosca chipped in eight points apiece. Scott Cunningham paced Colorado College with 21 points.
