Southwestern Tops 'Roo Men in Georgetown

The Austin College men's basketball team fell 65-53 on the road at Southwestern University on Saturday, bringing the team's record to 6-14 overall and 2-7 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Brian Baehl scored 17 for Austin College but the 'Roos shot just 33.3% from the field in the game, while Southwestern hit 42.3% from the floor and outscored Austin College 15-4 from the free throw line. 

The 'Roos led 15-14 midway through the first half following a Jeremy Swisher three pointer, but after things were squared at 20 apiece, Southwestern scored 10 in a row to open up a 30-20 advantage and took a 32-24 lead into halftime. In the second half, the lead grew to as much as 16 at 50-34 with 13 minutes to play. 

Austin College trimmed the margin to five points at 52-47 with 6:06 remaining, but an 8-0 run for the Pirates put the game away. 

Baehl hit 7-of-11 attempts and added six rebounds, while Swisher was the only other Austin College player to reach double figures, scoring 10 points in the loss. Austin Freet and Stephen Igbinosa each grabbed nine rebounds for the 'Roos.

Ben Stiver scored 17 to pace the Pirates, and Zach Whitlock had 13 points and 15 rebounds for Southwestern.
