Men's Hoops Tops Millsaps in Overtime to Improve to 8-0

The Austin College men's basketball team pulled out a 78-74 overtime victory at Millsaps on Wednesday, keeping the team unbeaten and bringing its record to 8-0 on the year. The 'Roos are now off until after the Holiday and will be back in action at home on December 30.

The 'Roos took a narrow 32-29 lead into halftime, and the Majors fought back to grab a late lead before two free throws from Alan Sullivan with 30 seconds left sent the game into overtime with the teams knotted at 68. Sullivan and Stephen Igbinosa scored early in the overtime period to put Austin College ahead 72-68, and a three pointer from Brian Baehl pushed it to a 77-72 lead with 24 seconds to play.

The 'Roos actually extended the lead to six with 11 seconds left before Millsaps scored at the buzzer to make it a 78-74 final.

Four players reached double figures for Austin College, with Igbinosa's 16 leading the way. Igbinosa hit 8-of-12 shots and added three blocked shots to maintain his Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference-leading average. Sullivan and Cedric Hudson each scored 15, with Sullivan adding six boards and six assists, while Baehl scored 11 points, dished out eight assists, and grabbed six boards. Austin Freet pulled down 15 rebounds for the second time in the past three games, and Jeremy Swisher chipped in nine points off the bench.
