'Roo Men Stay Unbeaten with Win Over Millsaps

The Austin College men's basketball team edged Millsaps College 66-63 on Sunday to keep the 'Roos unbeaten on the year with a 4-0 record.

Millsaps came out red hot to open the game, grabbing a commanding 20-6 lead with just under 12 minutes left in the half. The 'Roos responded with an 18-4 run to even things up at 24 on a three point play from Stephen Igbinosa with 2:53 on the clock, but the Majors would head into the locker room with a 28-25 lead.

The Millsaps lead grew to 39-32 early in the second half, but the 'Roos would fight back with an Austin Freet three pointer squaring things at 41 with 13:23 remaining. Millsaps regained the lead and went on top 53-48 with 7:53 on the clock, but six straight points from Alan Sullivan gave the 'Roos a 54-53 lead, their first lead since it was 5-3 early on. Millsaps would take a 61-60 lead, but a Brian Baehl jumper put Austin College on top for good at 62-61 with 37 seconds to play.

Sullivan and Freet would add free throws down the stretch to ice the 66-63 victory.

Cedric Hudson paced the 'Roos with 17 points, six rebounds, and three steals, and Sullivan finished with a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 boards. Freet finished with 14 points and eight rebounds, and Baehl chipped in 12 points, five boards, and three assists.
