'Roos Edge Hendrix to Move to 3-0

The Austin College men's basketball team held off Hendrix College 79-76 on Saturday afternoon in Shreveport, bringing the team's record to 3-0 this season. This marks the first time since the 2009-2010 campaign that the 'Roos have won their first three games.

After falling behind to open the game, the 'Roos got a pair of threes from Alan Sullivan to help them take a 15-7 lead with 14:43 left in the first half, and after Hendrix came back to briefly regain the lead, Austin College took control and grabbed a 32-23 lead with 3:20 left in the first half. However, the Warriors would chip away at the lead and head into halftime trailing 36-31.

Austin College's lead grew to double digits at 48-38 early in the second half, but Hendrix slowly started clawing at the deficit and eventually took a one point lead at 65-64 with 5:04 left in the game. The teams traded baskets over the next two minutes until a pair of buckets from Cedric Hudson and Brian Baehl gave the 'Roos a 73-69 lead with 2:04 left, and Austin College would hold off the Warriors the rest of the way.

Sullivan finished with 14 points to lead Austin College as four players reached double figures. Stephen Igbinosa chipped in 13 points and five boards, Baehl added 12 points and seven assists, and Hudson finished with 12 points and six rebounds. Josh Dickerman chipped in nine points, and Austin Freet had a team-best eight rebounds.
