'Roo Men's Hoops Topped at Trinity

The Austin College men's basketball team dropped a tough one to Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Trinity University 72-67 despite 21 points from Ransom Okpala on Saturday. The 'Roos fall to 4-9 overall and 0-4 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with the loss.

The 'Roos took a 31-27 lead into halftime afer Okpala drilled a three at the buzzer, and scored 13 of his 21 in the opening half. The 'Roos hit seven three pointers in the first half to help build their lead. The hot shooting continued into the second half, as the 'Roos hit eight three pointers in the second half but Trinity used a 12-to-4 free throw edge to help lead them past Austin College after the break.

On top of the free throw edge for the Tigers, Trinity also hit 7-of-13 triples in the second half and managed to top the 'Roos despite Austin College owning a 40-29 edge on the glass, which came largely thanks to Austin Freet, who grabbed 15 boards to go along with 10 points for his first double-double.

Jimmy King came off the bench for his best game of the season, hitting 5-of-8 three pointers to finish with 15 in the loss. Okpala added five assists and two steals to go along with his game-high 21.
