Six from 'Roo Football Earn All-SAA

ATLANTA, Ga. – Austin College football player TJ Melontree earned first team All-Southern Athletic Association honors and five more 'Roos were named honorable mention, the league office has announced. Along with Melontree, Colt Collins, Adonis Martin, Hayden Schilling, Morris Shell, and Jackson Townsend were all honored as All-Conference performers.

Melontree, a senior cornerback from Carrollton, led the SAA with five interceptions on the year and also had seven pass breakups. He also had 48 tackles, including 3.0 tackles-for-loss, and forced a fumble. 

Collins, a junior quarterback from Princeton, was third in the SAA with 2,185 passing yards and also finished 10thin the conference with 586 rushing yards. His seven rushing touchdowns tied him for fifth in the conference, and he was tied for sixth with 11 passing touchdowns.

Martin, a junior wide receiver from Tulsa, Oklahoma, finished seventh in the conference with 548 receiving yards, catching 28 passes on the year. Martin pulled in three receiving touchdowns, and averaged 19.6 yards-per-catch. 

Schilling, a senior defensive end from Muenster, earned All-SAA honorable mention even after missing four games due to injury. He finished the year with 19 tackles, including 1.0 tackle-for-loss, with 10 of his tackles being solo stops. 

Shell, a senior linebacker from Irving, was fifth in the SAA and second on the team with 75 tackles, including 4.5 tackles-for-loss. He also recovered a fumble, had one interception, and had 0.5 sacks on the year. 

Townsend, a senior linebacker from Richardson, led the 'Roos and was fourth in the conference with 84 tackles, including 7.0 tackles-for-loss. He also recovered a fumble and had four pass breakups for the season.
