ATLANTA, Ga. – Austin College football player TJ Melontree has been named the Southern Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week, the league office has announced.
Melontree, a senior cornerback from Carrollton, had an outstanding game against Trinity last Saturday, making six solo tackles and picking off a pair of passes. Melontree also had a tackle for loss. His first interception came in the endzone to stop a Trinity drive, and his second pick came late in the game as he made a spectacular interception and returned it 26 yards.
For the season, Melontree leads the SAA with five interceptions.
