Moran, Hunt Join Austin College Football Coaching Staff

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College football program has added Ben Moran and Branden Hunt as assistant coaches, head coach Loren Dawson has announced. Both Moran and Hunt are Austin College alums and played collegiately for the 'Roos.

Moran, who played wide receiver at Austin College, will coach that same position group for the 'Roos this year while also taking over duties as the athletics department's persistence monitor. In that role, he will work with student-athletes from across all sports in achieving academic success. Moran graduated from Austin College in 2018, and last season chose to work as a student assistant to Dawson rather than using his final year of eligibility, working with the receivers.

Moran also worked as a coaching intern last summer at the University of North Carolina, assisting with multiple camps, including UNC's Elite QB Academy Camps. He has also previously worked as a coaching intern at Dickinson High School in 2017 and Magnolia High School in 2016.

Hunt, who played on the offensive line under Dawson, will likewise be coaching his former positional unit as the team's new offensive line coach. A 2017 graduate of Austin College, Hunt was a two-time first team All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference selection and was recognized by the National Football Foundation as a Collegiate Scholar Athlete. He was the program's William B. Traylor Award winner, given annually to a 'Roo football player who displays work ethic and high character.

Last year, Hunt coached and taught at Forney High School, serving as that program's offensive line coach, while also serving as the school's powerlifting coach. Prior to his time at Forney, he served as a graduate assistant for the 'Roo football program in the spring of 2017.
