#TBT: Madison Ross Tops 1,000 Rushing Yards

It had been 15 years since Austin College had a 1,000 yard rusher, but with 108 yards in a road game against Texas Lutheran, Madison Ross topped that mark on his way to 1,014 yards on the ground in the 2015 season. Prior to Ross, the last 'Roo to rush for more than 1,000 yards was Aaron Kernek during the 2000 season.

Ross, a Fort Worth native who was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year as a freshman and amassed 2,338 yards in his career to go along with 23 career touchdowns (including 11 as a senior), picked up 108 yards on 19 carries in the game that put him over the 1,000-yard mark in Seguin on November 7, 2015. It was his fifth 100-yard game of the season, having previously gone for 190 against Hendrix, a career-best 207 against Whittier, 118 at Howard Payne, and 180 against Lyon.

At the end of his career at Austin College, Ross was named the SCAC Man of the Year as the top all-around male student-athlete in the conference. He was a first team CoSIDA Academic All-American twice, in addition to earning a SCAC Character and Community Award during his time in Sherman. Ross was a first team All-SCAC performer in both 2014 and 2015, as well as being named an honorable mention All-Conference punt returner his senior season. Ross graduated with a 3.93 grade-point-average and was the male Bo Miller Scholar-Athlete Award winner for having the highest GPA among all senior male student-athletes at Austin College, in addition to being named the Pete Cawthon Award winner as the top male 'Roo student-athlete.
