Austin College Falls to No. 20 Texas Lutheran

The Austin College football team fell in a 24-0 first half hole and was unable to climb out, dropping a 41-7 decision to No. 20-ranked Texas Lutheran on Saturday afternoon. Madison Ross rushed for 108 yards, pushing him past the 1,000 yard mark for the year. He's the first Austin College player to hit that milestone since Aaron Kernek in the 2000 season.

An early fumble by the 'Roos gave the Bulldogs good field position on their first possession, and TLU capitalized with a touchdown less than three minutes into the game. A 47-yard field goal by TLU's Chadd Brown made it a 10-0 game, and the Bulldogs would add another touchdown with just four seconds left in the first quarter to make it 17-0.

The Bulldogs scored again with 11:57 left in the second quarter to push it to a 24-0 game, and that's how thing would stay heading into the locker room. The Bulldogs scored 10 points in the first six minutes of the second half to make it a 34-0 game, and Austin College finally managed to get on the scoreboard when Cooper Woodyard found Ross for a 26 yard touchdown pass to cut it to a 34-7 game with 3:16 left to play. TLU would tack on one final score with 17 seconds remaining.

Ross carried 19 times to get past the century mark, and Woodyard finished the game completing 14-of-30 passes for 163 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Kyle Crawford had five catches for 69 yards to lead the way through the air. Brooks Ward made 12 tackles, including a sack, to pace the defense. Ward passed 100 tackles on the year, becoming the first 'Roo to reach that mark since 2004, when DeMarcus Harris finished the year with 112 stops.

Austin College is back in action one more time this season as the 'Roos host Trinity University next Saturday at 1:00 p.m. as part of Homecoming Weekend.
