'Roos Fall to Texas Lutheran

SEGUIN, Texas - The Austin College baseball team fell 14-4 in its series opener at Texas Lutheran on Thursday afternoon, bringing the team's overall record to 7-21 with a 3-10 mark in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Austin College jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a Cody Goggins RBI single in the top of the first, but TLU answered back with two runs in the bottom half of the inning and added three more in the second. The 'Roos brought a runner around on an error in the third to make it 5-2, but Texas Lutheran responded with three more runs to make it an 8-2 game. James Wyche homered in the fifth to cut into the margin, but once again the Bulldogs were able to answer with three more runs, pushing the deficit to 11-3. The lead grew to 13-3 in the sixth, and after Brett Taff brought a run home on a sacrifice fly, TLU ended the game with one more run in the bottom of the seventh to make it a 14-4 final.

Jordan Miller took the loss for Austin College, surrendering eight runs - six earned - on 10 hits with four walks and a strikeout in 3.1 innings of work. Wyche led Austin College at the plate, going 2-for-3, and four other 'Roos had one hit apiece.
