Four From 'Roo Baseball Earn All-SCAC

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — Four members of the Austin College baseball team were selected as All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference performers for the 2018 season, the league office has announced.

Brett Taff was named second team All-SCAC at third base and honorable mention at pitcher, while Chase Almaguer, Austin Dudley, and Cody Goggins were honorable mention picks.

Taff, a junior from Amarillo, finished fourth in the conference with a .409 batting average, and was tied for fifth with 33 runs batted in. Taff also had eight doubles and three home runs, and was second in the league with a .514 on-base percentage. On the mound, Taff made nine appearances with three starts, finishing the year with a 3-2 record along with a save while striking out 17 batters in 28.1 innings of work.

Almaguer, a senior pitcher from The Woodlands, led the 'Roos with four wins on the mound, throwing two complete games and earning SCAC Pitcher of the Week honors after tossing a no-hitter early in the season. Almaguer made nine appearances, logging 50.0 innings of work, with eight starts on the season.

Dudley, a senior shortstop from Granada Hills, California, batted .325 on the season with a .427 on-base percentage and a .450 slugging percentage. Dudley had six doubles, three triples, and a home run on the year, and drove in 19 runs while stealing five bases. Dudley also scored 25 runs.

Goggins, a sophomore catcher from Appleton, Wisconsin, batted .299 on the year with one double, one triple, and a pair of home runs. Goggins drove in 11 runs while scoring 12 more, and added a .390 on-base percentage and a .433 slugging percentage.
