'Roo Baseball Drops Series Finale at Dallas

IRVING, Texas - The Austin College baseball team dropped the final game of its three-game series at the University of Dallas 11-1 on Saturday afternoon. The 'Roos finished the series taking of two out of three games, and are now 8-10 overall and 2-4 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Dallas jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning and added one more run in the second, before plating four runs in the third to quickly take an 8-0 lead. Austin College got on the board in the top of the seventh when Justin Alphonse homered for the second time in the series and third time this season, making it an 8-1 game, but that would be the lone run for the 'Roos. The Crusaders pushed two more runs across in the bottom half of the inning, and added one more in the eighth to make it an 11-1 final.

Oscar Gonzalez took the loss for Austin College, going 6.0 innings and surrendering eight runs on nine hits. Six different players had one hit apiece for the 'Roos, with Alphonse finishing 1-for-3 with a solo homer.

Austin College heads on the road again next weekend, heading to Kerrville for a three-game SCAC series against Schreiner.
