SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College baseball team fell 12-2 in the final game of its three-game set with No. 2-ranked and Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference-leading Trinity University on Sunday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 6-9 overall and 0-3 in conference play with the loss.

Austin College committed five errors in the game and eight of Trinity's 12 hits went for extra bases, while the 'Roos were limited to six hits – all coming from the first three batters in the lineup. Trinity plated one run in the first and added three in the second, and two more runs came across in the third to make it a 6-0 game.

The 'Roos got on the board in the fourth when Justin Alphonse drove home Austin Dudley, but Trinity would two in the fifth to make it an 8-1 game. Austin College got one run back in the bottom half of the inning as Oscar Gonzalez singled home Josh Boring to make it 8-2, but that's as close as things would get the rest of the way. Trinity plated a run in the seventh and three more in the eighth to make it a 12-2 final.

Gonzalez, Dudley, and Bennett Reagan accounted for all six Austin College hits, while Ryan Culp took the loss, surrendering nine runs (eight earned) on nine hits with a pair of strikeouts in 7.0 innings of work. Trinity's Rafe Chaumette went 3-for-5 and drove in two runs to pace the Tigers, while Holden Nix earned the win.

Austin College heads out on the road next weekend for another SCAC series, as the 'Roos will take on the University of Dallas on Friday and Saturday in Irving.
