Austin College Falls to Trinity in Season Finale

SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College baseball team fell in an early hole and was unable to climb out, falling 13-0 against No. 6-ranked Trinity University in the team's final game of the season on Saturday afternoon. The 'Roos finish the year with an overall record of 13-25 in 2016.

Trinity plated four runs in the top of the fourth to take a big early lead, with another run coming home in the second and two more scoring in the third, including a solo home run from Carter McEachern. Two more runs came across in the fourth, one scored in the fifth, and one more came home in the sixth to make it an 11-0 game.

The Tigers got two more runs in the top of the seventh on a two run shot from Logan Morrison to make it a 13-0 final as the game ended in that inning via the run-rule. Lamont Wyche took the loss for Austin College, surrendering seven runs on seven hits in 3.0 innings of work in his first career start.

Jeremy Halford, Oscar Gonzalez, and Thomas Oberg each collected a single, with Halford reaching on a bunt in the third to break up a no-hitter bid by Trinity's Michael Walker. Halford finished the game 1-for-2 in the senior's final game for Austin College.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
