SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College baseball team came up just short in a 4-3 game one loss to Dallas Christian but blanked the Crusaders 3-0 in game two on Friday afternoon at Baker Field. The 'Roos are now 11-19 overall this season.

In the first game, Austin College jumped on top in the first inning on an RBI single from Gus Daniel to make it 1-0, but Dallas Christian squared things in the top of the second and added a run in the fifth, one more in the sixth, and another in the seventh to take a 4-1 lead. Austin College brought two runs home in the bottom of the seventh but the tying run was left at third.

James Arguello drew a bases loaded walk in the seventh to get the first run across, and Austin Dudley scored on a ground out by Harrison Baldwin but that's as close as Austin College would get as the rally fell just short. Josh Lewis took the loss, surrendering four runs – three earned – in a complete game performance with five strikeouts. Daniel went 2-for-3 to pace Austin College offensively.

In the second game, the 'Roos once again took an early lead with an RBI single by Scott Gelbart in the bottom of the first, and another run came home for Austin College on an RBI base hit from Trey Croft in the fourth. One more run would come across in the fifth as Derek Hester drew a bases loaded walk to make it a 3-0 game, and that's all the cushion Mychael Parish and Brett Moody would need as the pair combined for the one hit shutout.

Parish earned the win to improve to 4-3, tossing 5.1 scoreless innings and allowing just one hit with seven strikeouts. Moody picked up his second save of the season, not allowing a hit in 1.2 innings of work and striking out a pair. Hester went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored to lead Austin College offensively.

The 'Roos are back in action on Tuesday when they host Rust College for a non-conference doubleheader at Baker Field.
