Baseball Falls as TWU Offense Explodes Late

SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College baseball team took a scoreless game into the sixth inning against Texas Wesleyan, but the Rams exploded for seven runs in the sixth and five more in the seventh to make it a 12-0 final on Tuesday night. The 'Roos fall to 10-18 overall with the loss.

The 'Roos got strong pitching from Lane Lozano and Chase Almaguer through the first five innings, with the pair combining to allow just five hits and no runs, but the Texas Wesleyan bats came alive in the sixth. Seven runs scored in the inning, with only three earned. TWU's Jonathan Bravo homered to left to lead off the seventh, and a pair of two-run hits would push the margin to 12-0.

Austin College was unable to muster any offense of their own, as the 'Roos were limited to one hit in the game. James Arguello collected the lone base knock and finished the day 1-for-2. Lamonte Wyche took the loss for Austin College, surrendering six runs – three earned – on five hits in 0.1 innings of work.

Austin College will be looking to bounce back on Friday as they host Dallas Christian College for a doubleheader at Baker Field.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
