SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College baseball team committed six errors in the first four innings, opening the door for the University of Texas-Dallas take a 7-1 lead and the 'Roos were unable to recover in a 9-2 loss on Tuesday night. The 'Roos are now 6-5 overall this season.

After a scoreless first inning, UTD plated three runs in the second, with an RBI double bringing home two and a throwing error allowing one more runner to cross the plate later in the inning. Another unearned run came home in the third to make it 4-0 before Austin College got on the board with an RBI single from Oscar Gonzalez.

However, after a sacrifice fly by UTD made the lead 5-1 in the fourth, the Comets would take advantage of two more errors in the inning, both of which came with two outs, and plate two more runs to push it to a 7-1 advantage. Two more runs came home in the fifth to make it 9-1, and Austin College would plate a run in the sixth on an RBI single by Thomas Oberg for the final run of the game for either team.

Chase Almaguer took the loss for Austin College, surrendering three runs – two earned – on two hits with three walks in 3.0 innings of work. Austin College collected 14 hits in the game but stranded 15 runners in the loss. Gonzalez and Austin Dudley each went 3-for-5 to pace the 'Roos offensively.

Garrett Uhl picked up the win for UT-Dallas, while Matthew Young went 3-for-5 with two RBI for the Comets.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
