'Roo Baseball Drops Pair at Trinity

The Austin College baseball team dropped a pair of games on Saturday night, falling 1-0 to Trinity in game one and 9-1 in game two in San Antonio. The losses drop the 'Roos to 8-20 overall and 6-11 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

In game one, Brett Moody continued his strong season by keeping Trinity scoreless through five innings but the Tigers plated a single, unearned run in the bottom of the sixth to go on top 1-0. Austin College was unable to counter on offense, mustering just one hit in the game in the loss. Moody took the loss, surrendering an unearned run on nine hits in 7.0 innings of work while adding five strikeouts.

Trinity jumped out to a 4-0 lead in game two after one inning of play, and the Tigers plated three more runs in the second to grab a 7-0 lead. Another run came across in the third to make it 8-0 before an RBI single by Josh Coughennower put Austin College on the board in the sixth. However, Trinity would get that run back in the bottom half of the inning to go ahead 9-1 and that's how things would stay.

Mychael Parish took the loss after allowing seven runs - six earned - on seven hits in 1.0 inning of work. Coughennower went 2-for-5 with an RBI to lead the way on offense.
