'Roo Baseball Drops Two to Centenary

The Austin College baseball team fell twice to Centenary College on Saturday, falling 14-5 in game one and 8-1 in game two to bring the team's record to 4-28 overall this season. The 'Roos are also now 2-16 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with the two losses.

In game one, Austin College fell behind 1-0 after two before Jacob Miller's RBI single tied things up in the third. The 'Roos plated three in the fourth, with Jeremy Halford scoring on a wild pitch, Marcos Molina scoring on an RBI base hit by Hunter Wilson, and Dylan Day scoring on a single by Gus Daniel.

However, Centenary exploded for 13 runs in the bottom of the fourth, collecting 13 hits in the inning to take a 14-4 lead. Austin College would a run on an RBI single by James Arguello in the sixth to make it 14-5 but that would be the final run scored in the game. 

Daniel went 3-for-3 and Day, Wilson, Miller, and Will Schommer each had two hits. Josh Lewis took the loss, surrendering six runs on five hits in 3.1 innings of work.

In game two, Centenary jumped out to a 2-0 lead after plating a pair in the fourth, and after Day drove in Halford in the fifth to make it 2-1, the Gents plated two more in the bottom half of the inning to make it a 4-1 game. Centenary added two more in the seventh and two in the eight to make it an 8-1 final.

Brett Moody absorbed the loss for Austin College, giving up six runs, five earned, on eight hits in 7.0 innings of work. Five players had a hit for the 'Roos in teh loss.
