'Roo Baseball Falls Short against Centenary

The Austin College baseball team held a 5-3 lead heading into the seventh, but Centenary scored four runs down the stretch to hand the 'Roos a 7-5 loss on Friday night in Shreveport. The 'Roos fall to 4-26 overall and 2-14 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with the loss.

Centenary took a 2-0 lead in the second inning before Austin College got on the board in the third, with Marcos Molina coming home to make it 2-1. The 'Roos tied things up in the fifth when Jacob Miller drew a walk with the bases loaded, scoring Hunter Wilson to make it 2-2. Centenary would jump back on top 3-2 in the bottom half of the inning.

Austin College plated three runs in the sixth to grab a 5-3 advantage, with Dylan Day singling home Jeremy Halford to square things up, and Molina came home on an RBI single by Wilson and Day scored on a wild pitch to close out the inning. However, the Gents tallied three runs in the seventh to make it a 6-5 game, and another run came home in the bottom of the eighth to make it 7-5. 

The 'Roos were limited to just three hits but drew eight walks as a team. Day, Wilson, and Braley Williams each had a base hit in the game. Thomas Oberg took the loss in relief, surrendering two runs on three hits in 2.0 innings of work.
