'Roo Baseball Falls Twice to Dallas

The Austin College baseball team dropped both halves of its doubleheader against the University of Dallas on Saturday, falling 5-4 in game one and 8-2 in game two. The 'Roos are now 4-20 overall and 2-9 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The 'Roos managed just two hits in game one but took a 4-2 lead into the sixth inning thanks to four errors by Dallas, with Gus Daniel and Hunter Wilson each delivering an RBI. However, the Crusaders tied things up with a pair of runs in the sixth and got a walk-off victory with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. Patrick Renz took the loss in relief, surrendering a run on two hits in 0.2 innings of work.

In game two, the 'Roos fell behind 5-0 after two innings and were never able to turn things around, as Austin College scored in the third but the Crusaders answered in the fourth to make it 6-1. The 'Roos added another run in the fifth, but once again Dallas responded to make it 7-2. UD would go on to add one more run in the seventh to push it to an 8-2 margin.

Daniel, Dylan Day, Will Schommer, and Jeremy Halford each had a pair of hits in the loss, and Josh Lewis took the loss after allowing five runs, four earned, on seven hits in 1.0 innings of work.
