'Roo Baseball Edged by Schreiner

The Austin College baseball team scored three late runs but the 'Roos were unable to come all the way back against Schreiner, falling 5-4 on Friday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 2-17 overall this season and 0-7 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Schreiner jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings, and after the 'Roos got a run on the board when James Arguello came home on an error in the fourth to make it 3-1, the Mountaineers tacked on a pair in the bottom of the fifth to push it to a 5-1 game. The 'Roos would score a run in the sixth, the seventh, and the eighth to pull within a run but that's as close as things would get.

Marcos Molina knocked in a run on a sacrifice fly in the sixth, Hunter Wilson scored on an error in the seventh, and Dylan Day drove in Jeremy Halford in the eighth. The 'Roos put the tying runner on base in the top of the ninth, but were unable to bring the run home to tie things up.

Halford went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Day finished 1-for-4 with an RBI. Marshall Korn took the loss after surrendering two runs with three walks in 0.2 innings of work, and Bretty Moody came on to surrender three runs in 7.1 innings of relief work.
