The Austin College baseball team fell in a 4-0 hole in the first inning and was unable to claw its way out on Sunday afternoon, falling 10-7 to visiting Centenary College at Baker Field. The 'Roos are now 8-19 overall and 6-6 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with the loss.

The Gents scored their four first inning runs on just two hits, taking advantage of three hit batters to do their damage. The 'Roos got two runs back in the bottom half of the inning on a Mason Leech sacrifice fly and an RBI double for Josh Coughennower, but Centenary plated three more in the third to make it 7-2 heading into the bottom half of the inning.

In the third the 'Roos managed to put one more run across on an RBI single by Leech, but once again the Gents extended their lead with two runs in the sixth to make it a 9-3 game. Austin College answered right back with three runs in the bottom of the sixth, with Austin Molinaro, Austin Vaughan, and Dylan Day each driving in a run to make it 9-6.

Centenary tacked on another run in the eighth to push it to a 10-6 game, and despite a ninth inning homer from Colt Herron, his third of the season, the 'Roos were unable to chip away at the lead any further.

Day went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Vaughan and Herron each went 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Mychael Parrish took the loss, surrendering seven runs on five hits in just over 2.0 innings of work.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
