'Roo Baseball Takes Two from Southwestern

The Austin College baseball team swept its doubleheader against Southwestern on Saturday, winning by scores of 7-3 and 16-4. The 'Roos are now 5-16 overall and 4-4 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with the wins.

In game one, the 'Roos got a complete game effort from Marshall Korn as he earned his second win of the season, giving up three runs on just four hits. Colt Herron went 3-for-3 with an RBI and two stolen bases to lead the 'Roos offensively. Austin Vaughan, Josh Coughennower, Jeremy Halford, and Travis Gibson also had one RBI each in the victory.

In game two, the 'Roos jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning and added seven runs in the fifth on their way to the big victory. CJ Adame had an incredible day at the plate, going 6-for-6 with four runs batted in. Will Schommer went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBI and had a triple in the win, and Tyler Appelquist went 3-for-4 as the 'Roos amassed 23 hits before the mercy rule was invoked in the eighth inning.

Landon Hendrix went 3-for-4, Mason Leech went 3-for-5, and Patrick Renz and Travis Gibson each had two hits in the win. 

Austin College will be going for the weekend sweep when they take on Southwestern again on Sunday afternoon in Georgetown.
