The Austin College baseball team fell 9-3 to the University of Texas-Dallas on Tuesday night after the Comets used a four run eighth inning to put the game away. The 'Roos are now 3-16 overall this season with the loss.

UT-Dallas jumped out to a 3-0 lead after a run in the second and two more in the third, but Austin College responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third to cut it to a one run game. Austin Vaughan doubled home Travis Gibson and then scored on a double by Will Schommer in the inning.

The Comets added a run in the fourth but Colt Herron blasted a solo homer, his second of the season, in the bottom half of the inning to keep things close at 4-3 heading into the fifth. That remained the score until UTD tallied again in the sixth to make it 5-3, and two RBI singles and a throwing error led to four runs for the Comets in the top of the eighth to make it a 9-3 final.

Vaughan finished 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI and Herron went 1-for-4 with a homer to lead the 'Roos offensively. Andy Renz absorbed the loss, surrendering four runs, three earned, on eight hits in 3.2 innings of work with two strikeouts and two walks.

Jacob Price led the Comets with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate, driving home two runs. Michael Ward got the win pitching 2.0 innings in relief and giving up one run on two hits.
