The Austin College baseball team scored six runs in the top of the ninth inning to earn its first victory of the season in a 7-4 win over Louisiana College in McKinney on Friday. The 'Roos are now 1-4 overall this season.
The 'Roos jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth when Colt Herron singled home a run, but Louisiana College scored the next four runs to take a 4-1 lead into the final inning. In the ninth, the 'Roos took advantage of two errors and got RBI sacrifice flies from Josh Coughennower and Herron as part of a six run inning to take a 7-4 lead, and Austin Rainer set down Louisiana College in order in the bottom of the ninth to earn his first collegiate victory in relief.
Herron went 3-for-4 with two RBI and Dylan Day also went 3-for-4 in the win, while Rainer pitched two scoreless innings of one hit ball with one strikeout and no walks to get the win.
The 'Roos take on Willamette tomorrow in a doubleheader at home beginning at 1:00 p.m.
