Tigers Fall to Austin In Home Finale

Box Score Korbyn Ukasick scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the final home game of her career, but her efforts weren't enough to get Colorado College past one of the better teams in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Austin College used its height and depth advantage to record a 67-54 victory on Sunday afternoon at Reid Arena.

Ukasick climbed to 18th place on the program's career scoring list with 941 points. She also ranks seventh with 83 baskets from behind the arc and 23rd with 463 rebounds.

The Tigers were within five points when sophomore guard Casey Torbet scored on a layup early in the third quarter, however the 'Roos erupted for a 12-4 run to build a 13-point lead.

After trailing 57-40 early in the fourth quarter, Colorado College cut its deficit to single digits when Ukasick scored with 3:59 to play. That proved to be as close as the Tigers would get.

Austin made four of eight free throws during the final two minutes to secure the win.

Sophomore guards Payton Katich and Casey Torbet scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, for CC, which dropped to 2-20 overall and 1-10 in the SCAC.

Bryce Frank, a 6-foot-2 sophomore forward, led the 'Roos with game highs of 20 points and 12 rebounds.

Kendall Heitmeier, a 6-foot senior, added 14 points and five rebounds for Austin.

The 'Roos were in control early in the contest, jumping out to a 17-4 lead with 2:16 remaining in the first quarter.

Colorado College trimmed its deficit to 10 points after 10 minutes and pulled to within 26-22 after freshman forward Evan Underbrink sank a pair of free throws with 4:21 to play in the second.

Austin extended its lead to 31-22 when senior guard Olivia Cicci drained a three-pointer 50 seconds later to cap a 5-0 run, however the Tigers answered with six straight and trailed just 33-30 after freshman guard Jordan Meltzer completed a three-point play with 1:19 to go before halftime.

The 'Roos improved to 16-6 overall and 8-3 in conference play.

Colorado College plays its final three games of the regular season on the road, beginning next Friday when the Tigers visit Texas Lutheran University.
