Tigers Continue Home Dominance

Box Score Goals by senior forwards Stuart Beezley and Brandon Ogilvie staked No. 19 Colorado College to an early lead, and the defense turned in another dominating effort as the Tigers cruised to a 2-0 victory over Austin College on Friday afternoon at Stewart Field.

CC improved to 8-1-0 overall and 4-0-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Tigers' eight-game winning streak is the program's longest since 1999 when Colorado College finished with a 14-6-1 record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

The Tigers also improved to 6-1 at home, where they have outscored their opponents 22-4 and recorded five shutouts. CC still has not allowed more than five shots on goal in a game this season.

Beezley put the Tigers on the board just 35 seconds into the game when he picked off an errant pass and put a shot from the top of the box into the upper right corner for the first game winner of his career.

Ogilvie doubled CC's lead in the 13th minute when he took a through ball from junior midfielder Seth Newby and beat senior goalkeeper Andrew Celio with a shot from 12 yards out.

With his 29th career goal, Ogilvie climbed into a tie for 15th place on the school's all-time chart with Dick Schulte (1971-74) and Robert Lipp (1990-92). He also extended his current scoring streak to four games, which ties his career best first set as a freshman in 2010 and equalled again last year.

At the other end of the pitch, freshman goalkeeper Theo Hooker had to make only one save while improving to 5-0-0 with his fourth clean sheet of the season.

The Tigers finished with a 25-4 advantage in total shots and a 5-2 margin in corner kicks.

Colorado College's winning margin would have been even larger had it not been for Celio, who stopped eight shots for the 'Roos.

CC plays host to the University of Dallas on Sunday at 11 a.m.
