JR Ohr was named Executive Director of Major Gifts in 2020. In his role, the 2007 Austin College graduate and former Kangaroo football player, Ohr oversees the fundraising and alumni engagement efforts for Austin College Athletics.
Prior to his return to campus he served as an Assistant Athletic Director for Development at Sam Houston State University. Named to this role in December 2012, Ohr oversaw the Bearkat Champions Fund (Athletics annual fund and fundraising arm). He joined the Sam Houston athletic administration staff in October 2010 as Staff Associate in Corporate Partnerships and Development.
In 2009, Ohr worked as a Development Intern for The Longhorn Foundation, the primary fundraising arm of The University of Texas' athletics department. His role primarily focused on working in the annual fund, which generated over $35 million in 2009.
Ohr received his BA in Business Administration and Exercise & Sports Science from Austin College in 2007, where he was also a 3-time Academic All-Conference quarterback for the Kangaroos. In 2009, JR earned his MEd in Sport Management from The University of Texas at Austin.
