James Named Modern Woodmen Student-Athlete of the Week

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen of America Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo football player Tyler James.

James, a graduate student from Wills Point, currently ranks second in the nation in punting with an average of 44.4 yards-per-punt. Over the course of his career, he's thrown for more than 2,000 yards at the quarterback position while averaging better than 42 yards-per-punt in his five seasons with the 'Roos. Last season, James averaged 42.2 yards-per-punt on his way to being named a first team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association, and he's also earned All-Conference honors in both the Southern Athletic Association and American Southwest Conference.

Modern Woodmen of America is proud to recognize and support the ongoing achievements of Austin College student-athletes. Their North Texas Region understands that the pursuit of excellence on and off the field creates a foundation for continued excellence after graduation.
