Seibert Named Modern Woodmen Student-Athlete of the Week

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College Athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo women's tennis player Katie Seibert.

Seibert, a senior from Medina, had an outstanding career both on the tennis courts and in the classroom and community during her four years at Austin College. At the end of her freshman season she was named the Carroll Pickett Award winner as her team's most valuable player, and also served this past year as the vice president of Austin College's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Seibert won three singles matches this year before her season was cut short, and helped the 'Roos to three straight third place finishes in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships. Earlier this year she was named as a Fulbright semifinalist, with an eye toward serving abroad in South Korea.

"I'm interested in serving in South Korea to experience the rich culture and stand as an ambassador for the United States," said Seibert. "It's more important now that ever to learn about other cultures so that we can be inclusive members of the global community."

Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial is proud to recognize and support the ongoing achievements of Austin College student-athletes. Their North Texas Region understands that the pursuit of excellence on and off the field creates a foundation for continued excellence after graduation.
