Brown Named Modern Woodmen Student-Athlete of the Week

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College Athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighing our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo men's swimmer Chris Brown.

Brown, a junior from Garland, has been a record-setting swimmer for the 'Roos since early on his his career. He currently either holds seven program records, including four individual records and three relay records, and last season became the first Austin College swimmer to medal three times in the same Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship Meet. That includes a second place finish in the 100 backstroke, in which he broke his own Austin College record with a time of 51.09. He also placed second in the 200 individual medley while shattering the 'Roo program record, coming in with a time of 1:45.23.

Brown has also been an active member of the Austin College Student Athlete Advisory Council, and has also excelled in the classroom, earning SCAC Academic Honor Roll recognition each year he's been at Austin College. The three-year letter-winner is graduating early from Austin College, and is headed to graduate school next year. First, though, he'll have one more shot at making Austin College swimming history at the 2019 SCAC Championship Meet, which takes place February 13-16 in San Antonio.
