Austin College Athletics is excited to announce the new Crimson & Gold Fund. This has been created for our loyal donors to provide annual support for every student-athlete and all 18 varsity programs sponsored by Austin College, while rewarding and acknowledging those donors in a meaningful way.
"The Crimson & Gold Fund has been created so donors can provide annual support of the Austin College athletics program--a program that is thriving, with more than 400 varsity student-athletes," said athletics director David Norman. "Every gift directly supports the student-athlete experience."
Many 'Roos, family members, and friends have supported Austin College athletics throughout the years and allowed the department to grow and provide the resources needed for its student-athletes to find success on and off the field of play. High quality uniforms, equipment, and travel experiences are main areas that have been impacted by outside support. In order to reach the goals of being an excellent NCAA Division III athletics program now and into the future requires increased annual support from 'Roo Nation.
"Students choose Austin College for a great education and also for 'something else'," said Austin College President Steven O'Day. "For many, that something else is athletics."
At Austin College, participation in NCAA varsity sports has grown 40% over the last five years, with one in four Austin College students competing for one of our athletics programs. This year, Austin College welcomed 172 new student-athletes, the highest number in the College's history. 'Roo student-athletes have been successful both in their sports and in the classroom, with one in three earning academic or athletic All-Conference recognition, while one in four of our student-athletes has a grade-point-average of 3.5 or higher. More than half of Austin College student-athletes have at least a 3.0 GPA.
